Device: Nome I and II
Firmware: 5.2 (please let me know if you need me to confirm)
Settings:
- PL.1 = Mi.1 (Play Button 1 affects MIDI Out 1 only)
- PL.2 = PLA (Play Button 2 = Play/Stop on MIDI Out 2)
- rES = On (so play should be sent right away, with the metronome being reset, no count-in)
Issue:
When I press Play Button 2 to start MIDI Out 2 manually, the device always does a 1-bar count-in before sending Start on MIDI Out 2. This happens even though rES is set to On, which according to the manual should send Play right away without any count-in.
For comparison:
- If I change PL.1 to bot (both outputs) and press Play Button 1, there is no count-in on either output. Everything starts immediately as expected with rES=On.
- The count-in only appears when starting MIDI Out 2 independently via Play Button 2.
It looks like the rES=On behavior (immediate start + metronome reset) only applies to MIDI Out 1, and MIDI Out 2 falls back to the default "start on next bar" behavior, which feels like a 1-bar count-in.
Is this intended? If it is intended, is there any way to disable the count-in for Play Button 2 / MIDI Out 2?
Thanks in advance and Cheers
Sandro

Hi Sandro! Very nice of you to post here
There is no way to deactivate that.
Think about it this way: you can only have one master between the 2 buttons/outputs, one of them has to follow the other. So MIDI Out 1 decides the timing and can change it. MIDI Out 2 follows.
The idea is you can reset the timing and start any machines on MIDI Out 1 with the reset mode. Then, your other machines, you would want them to start in time with MIDI Out 1, without disturbing the timing, so when you press MIDI Out 2, it waits till next bar to start (which is not a count-in, it just waits till the next bar).
I hope that makes sense - and that you can move which machines is connected to which output to fit what you are trying to do

Exactly - and that's by design.

Thanks for clarification i lowered the time signature to get a "faster" response on Mid2. that's actually what i wanted.
