Cubase (or other DAW), U-SYNC record and measure over 2 bars?

Post by barseglin »

hello!

I'm making the switch back from Logic to Cubase, and am reading through the Nome quick-start and manual to make sure I'm doing things correctly.
I've got bi-directional setup rolling, everything seems to be working properly.

One aspect of the setup that's just not clicking with me: Page 21 of the quick-start
● Record your machine over 2 bars
● Measure the distance (in milliseconds) from the recording to the start of the bar
● Adjust by entering the opposite of this value in the U-SYNC plugin’s “shift” slider
● Save the plugin settings as a session template or plugin preset

What am I recording, exactly? I get the measuring of the distance and adjusting it by entering in the opposite value within the "shift" slider; but I just can't figure out what I'm measuring?

Do I output from Midronome back to my interface/DAW and measure that? If I do, I'll have input latency to compensate for as well? Maybe I'm looking too much into this.

Yes sorry about that, there is no specific section for Cubae (yet) in the guide.
What you want to record is the machine you set up in section 1.1. It can be any machine sync'ed to the Nome, just record it, measure its "latency", then compensate by writing the value in the U-SYNC plugin.

To measure make sure you set up the ruler in Cubase to milliseconds ( https://www.google.com/search?q=measure ... +in+cubase ).
